South Boulder

South Boulder is slowly getting a makeover. The area’s older homes (1960s and 1970s) are one by one being knocked down and rebuilt or gutted to fit more modern tastes. South Boulder neighborhoods vary greatly – some with unparalleled views and access to open space/trail heads and others with home prices that are irresistible to people wanting to buy a single-family home in Boulder. No matter what SoBo neighborhood, South Boulder’s location is ideal for those who need or want easy access for commuting to Denver or Golden or for powder chasing to the I-70 mountains, as you don’t have to fight central and downtown Boulder traffic to get on Highway 93 or US-36.

Martin Acres Neighborhood

This neighborhood – originally built in the 50s and 60s as a Boulder suburb with young servicemen returning from war, young scientists and college students attending the University of Boulder in mind – is an enclave of small ranch or split level homes. The homes are usually between 1000 – 2000 square feet with 1 car garages. Originally built en masse to be affordable, this area is still one of the most affordable neighborhoods in Boulder. And though people have started to pop tops and modernize these simple ranch and split-levels, the feeling of this area has not, at least yet, completely regenerated. Martin Acres is a very bike-able neighborhood, has easy access to major thoroughfares, is located on the RTD bus route and is close to the Table Mesa shopping center.
